6 tips to keep your house cool in the heat
During the hot summer months it can be particularly wonderful to stay in a fresh or cool house. Nothing as annoying as a warm bedroom where it is hard to get a sleep. Or a living space where it is absolutely too hot to live in. Fortunately, everyone can take some simple measures to keep the heat out of your house. These measures are certainly not far-reaching. It is above all a matter of doing and continuing. This way you can relax after a night on your terrace in a cool and fresh house.
Open your windows and doors in the morning for a cool house
The lowest temperature is reached in the morning and in the morning. So this is the perfect opportunity to ventilate your house and let in the cool air. Open your windows and doors from seven o'clock to ten o'clock in the morning. If it is a possibility, then it is a good idea to just open the windows and doors along the north side of your home. The sun does not come there in the morning, so you have the greatest chance of the lowest temperatures.
Electric appliances are a source of heat
If possible, do well to switch off all your electrical appliances. Devices such as televisions, printers, etc. produce a lot of heat. If you switch off this electrical equipment, you can ensure that the temperature in the house drops. Turning on an oven in very hot weather is of course not a good idea and will only raise the temperature in the house.
Protect your house against the sunshine and heat
Start in good time to keep the sun out of your house. You can use sunscreens for this. You can also lower all the shutters during the day. This way the sun cannot come in and therefore cannot heat up your house. It can also help grow a tree so that your home can enjoy the shade of the tree. Think in particular of a deciduous tree that offers protection against the sun in the summer, while allowing sunlight in during the winter.
Air conditioning can be a solution
An air conditioner can give a wonderful feeling on particularly hot days. However, an air conditioner can also cause colds. Some people cannot tolerate the blowing effect and get a cold quickly. The financial picture of an air conditioner is also quite expensive. A period with warm weather can therefore cost quite a bit. If you put some ice cubes in front of the air conditioner, the cooler air can be spread even better. It is therefore advisable to consult with your fellow residents about whether they find an air conditioner pleasant before you make a purchase.
Proper insulation of your house is very important
A house must be well insulated in order to keep the heat in during the winter, but also to keep the heat out in the summer. The outer wall of your house is therefore responsible for absorbing the large temperature differences. Without excellent insulation, a roof apartment in high heat is not recommended. After all, heat rises to the top and then it is certainly not pleasant to stay in the upper roof apartment (no fresh feeling).
Alternative: looking for coolness in the countryside
Of course you can also consider finding temporary accommodation in the countryside. The air circulation is much better there because there are fewer objects that can stop the circulation. After all, in a city you have a higher temperature due to the radiation from the buildings. However, this heat is released very slowly, which means it stays warm in the city for a long time. You will certainly recognize this phenomenon if you stay in a big city such as Paris or Brussels in very hot weather.
